Public to vote on new awards ceremony
The general public is to choose who’ll win an award for best customer service at a ceremony to take place in Surrey later on this year.
The Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) Surrey Business Awards has chosen to give a bigger voice to the county’s customers by giving them the chance to judge what is considered the competition’s top category.
Those choosing to vote in the competition will be able to both make their nominations and cast their votes online.
Antonio Falco, the regional chairman for the Surrey and West Sussex FSB, said:
“Customer service is a critical element for any business to get right so it only right that the public should have the final say. We believe there is no better endorsement than that of your customers.
“We anticipate there will be a huge contest to win this award at our grand final later in the year. I would urge everyone who lives or works in Surrey to get nominating and voting.
“Customer service isn’t a one-off for any business. The business that wins this category will ensure it exceeds customers’ expectations before, during and after using their services [by] investing in building long-term relationships and providing a service that is consistently outstanding.”
Nominations for the awards are already underway, and all businesses can enter for free in up to three of the categories.
Major categories include ‘entrepreneur of the year’, ‘apprentice of the year’, ‘best new business’ and ‘business innovation’.
It’s estimated that the local Surrey economy is worth around £30.3 billion; the awards celebrate the contribution that Surrey businesses make to the UK economy as a whole.
“Our vibrant economy is one of the drivers of UK growth,” said Mr Falco. “All the figures show that the [small and medium-sized enterprise] sector is a major driver of this. Our businesses are the real stars. We look forward to highlighting their role in generating wealth and creating jobs.”
